About Me

Michelle Mostacci

I currently live on the unceded territories and stolen lands of the  Quw'utsun Mustimuhw, coast salish, Hul'q'umi'num speaking peoples in the Pacific Northwest who have listened to, cared for and shaped this land since time immemorial. I find great joy and comfort in the life of the rivers, the abundance of salmon, the bears, the beauty of the gary oak and madrona, the ocean roses, the stones, the ravens, the mountains and the mountain lions. I am aware of the impacts of colonialism, capitalism, socio economic structures, white supremacy and cis hetero patriarchy and am committed to decolonizing  practices while continuing to educate and decolonize myself.

I see the brilliance and power of practicing living fully in our bodies, growing in connection to ourselves and our communities, with access to safety and the beauty of the human spirit.

I am a lover of truth and justice; a sound and textile artist. I am neurodivergent, fluid and living with chronic pain.

To briefly locate myself in the context of what has shaped my practice: i grew up in a home of Catholic prayers, I am illuminated by Buddhist practices and philosophies, earth based reverence and ritual as well as allyship with the sacred trinity of the rose lineage.

I am influenced by the works of Staci K. Haines, Deb Dana and Ron Kurtz. I am thankful to receive continued support through consultation with mentors and colleagues. I am aware of and in agreement with the canadian counselling and psychotherapy code of ethics, I do not diagnose. i find ways to make this form of care accessible and do not view this as a replacement for community care and connection.

My Framework

Through the framework of interconnection /decentralisation, understanding a world of interdependent ecosystems and creatures moving through challenging and shifting times; receiving the support we need in building our capacity and resiliency, is a deep care we can offer ourselves and the world simultaneously. I acknowledge that most trauma is rooted in some form of social inequity and am committed to the liberation of all beings. I also work with presencing times of transition and naming the rites of passage and/or initiations we are moving through in our lives and am open to exploring ritual desgn; all as a way to honour and ground in our experiences.

I accept clients within my scope of practice at this time and reference anyone who has reached out to me to other resources that i sense may be a match if i am not.

My Training

I have studies and training in Feminist Counselling, Embodied Trauma Therapy, Suicide Intervention, Restorative Justice Circles, Medical Qi Gong, Embodied Conflict Resolution, Non Violent Communication, Birth and Abortion Doula Care, Sexual Assault Response, Yoga, Advaita Vedanta, Cultural Competency and Trauma Informed practices.

Along with these trainings my life experience has largely informed this offering which has developed based on the deep embodiment and ritual work I needed and continue to practice to be well and sovereign within myself.

For the past three years, I have been offering frontline work in advocacy and crisis intervention on cases of sexualized violence as well as assisting with trauma recovery programs that are movement based as well as writing based.

I also work with street entrenched vulnerable young adults, creating alternative spaces of community, safety and resources.
